2010 SUMMER UPDATE
Hello Friends,
After taking a long hiatus in the "news" section of my website, I'm finally back to fill you all in on what's been going on in my world musically. Looking back on the year so far, I've had some opportunities to play with some of my favorite musicians and to be a part of some exciting musical projects. Here are some of the highlights:
In the beginning of February, I had the distinct pleasure of recording with baritone saxophonist Adam Schroeder on his debut album "A Handful Of Stars", which is scheduled to be released in July on Capri Records. Also in February, I played the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival with a variety of different musicians including Scott Hamilton, Terell Stafford, Ken Peplowski, James Morrison, Dee Daniels, Tim Green, Josh Nelson, Ben Williams and Kevin Kanner.
In March, I had my first experience playing with Atsuko Hashimoto, the masterful B3-Organist from Japan. We did two nights at the Friends of Frank DeMeiro Festival with drummer Jeff Hamilton and after having such a great time playing, we decided that we needed to do a recording together. Luckily for Jeff and I, she took it upon herself to do her next trio album here in LA, which is scheduled to record August 8th and 9th.
In May and June, I was very fortunate to do a string of concerts with my own quartet, playing music from my album "Right On Time". We played a number of different venues including Holly Hofmann's "Jazz at North Park Series", Steamers Jazz Club and Cafe and finally Vitello's, where we were joined by New York tenor sax great Harry Allen. Following these concerts were gigs at the The Playboy Jazz Festival with the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra and most recently three days of teaching and playing at UCSD Jazz Camp, where I had the honor of playing with legendary alto saxophonist Charles McPherson.
Coming up, I'll be returning to Port Townsend, WA for Centrum's jazz workshop as both a faculty member and performer. The workshop takes place from July 25th through August 1st and I'm especially excited about the set I'll be doing with Larry Goldings on Friday, July 30th. Larry is one of my all time favorite musicians and I'm very much looking forward to playing his music. Also coming up, I'll be doing a week-long west coast tour in August with pianist virtuoso Jeremy Siskind as we pay tribute to the Oscar Peterson Trio and the late Herb Ellis. For information on this tour and other upcoming performances, make sure to visit the 'Calendar' section of the website.
That's all for now folks. Thanks so for visiting my site and please check back for more updates soon!
Best,
Graham

OCTOBER RETROSPECTIVE / UPCOMING NY SHOWS
Hello Friends,
With October coming to a close, I thought I'd give you an update on what's been going on in my world musically.
This last month started off for me at the jazz festival in Newport, OR where I had the opportunity to play with some amazing musicians, including Terrell Stafford, Holly Hoffman, Tom Scott and Mickey Roker. I also got the chance to play and hang with Chuck Redd, who passed along to me some great stories about one of my all time musical heroes, Barney Kessel. Chuck played with Barney throughout the 1980s and it was so great to hear stories from someone who knew him so well.
Upon returning home, I played a week of shows with John Clayton, Jeff Hamilton and Tamir Hendelman in celebration of my debut CD, "Right On Time". It's always an amazing experience playing with those guys and for everyone who came out to the performances, I want to thank you for your support and for making it such a special week! Right now, I'm in the process of lining up a west coast tour in Spring of 2010 with the same group so make sure to check out my performance calendar for more updates.
Coming up, I'll be travelling to New York with the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra (CHJO) to play WBGO's 30th Anniversary Concert @ Lincoln Center, where we'll be joined by special guests Freddie Cole, Stefon Harris and Ernie Andrews. Along with Lincoln Center, we'll be playing at Cornell University in Ithica, NY. It's been months since CHJO has played together so I'm especially looking forward to this next hit.
That's all for now. I look forward to keeping in touch and until next time, take care and keep swingin'!
Best,
Graham

WELCOME!
Hello Everyone,
Welcome and thank you for visiting my new website! I'm happy to announce that my debut album, "Right On Time", featuring John Clayton, Jeff Hamilton and Tamir Hendelman, is out and available on Capri Records. We recorded for two days in November, 2008 and after what has been almost a year in the making, I'm so excited to finally share the experience with all of you. In celebration of the album being out, John, Jeff, Tamir and I will be playing two CD release parties: one at Spazio on October 7th and one at Steamers Jazz Club and Cafe on October 8th. For those of you in the LA area during those dates, I hope to see you at either one or both of the shows!
That's all for now - I'll be updating this section quite regularly so please visit again soon!

Graham
